The Crud - Day Two

Today is day two of my having come down with some sort of bug, although at this point I’m thinking it is NOT the dreaded flu that has been so widely reported this season.  Whatever it is, it has not moved past my throat, thankfully, and the soreness is almost gone.  The bad news is, it still feels like I’ve swallowed a handful of sand.  I’m hoping this fades away like the soreness has and that nothing travels into my head or my lungs.  The one and only time I ever had any kind of flu was years ago when we were living in the frozen North.  It knocked me out of action for an entire week.

Most of yesterday I spent either knitting or sleeping.  During my knitting time, I managed to complete one baby sock.  Considering it was my first sock ever, baby or otherwise, I think it came out really well.  I used the pattern Just Your Basic Baby Sock by Patti Pierce Stone with Euro Baby Babe yarn.

I started the second sock but then it came time for The Husband to come home from work so I figured I’d better ditch the sock for the oh-so-exciting Limestone sweater.

I’m still about 7 cm from dividing the stitches so today promises to be filled with yet more k1, p1 rounds.  It’s been kind of like that scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where Sir Lancelot is running to a castle to save what he thinks is a princess being forced to marry against her will and he runs and runs but doesn’t appear to get any closer.  I take solace in knowing that he does eventually get there.  Let’s just hope Limestone doesn’t have any awkward surprises in store for me like what awaited poor Sir Lancelot…

  1. I'm glad to hear you were able to get some knitting done yesterday. Hopefully today will see you well on the road to recovery.

Congratulations are in order for finishing your first ever sock! It is adorable! The really good news is, it is much more fiddly to knit a baby sock on DPNs than an adult one. In other words, if you can do the baby sock you can do any sock. :-)

    1. Oh, I'm so glad to hear that about socks! I still can't wait to cast on the ones that I have beautiful sock yarn for! I have a feeling, they may become quite addicting... ; )

  2. I am so glad you're feeling better! And I love seeing all of baby's stuff :) If they're anything like the blanket you made for her, she'll absolutely love sweater, socks, and hat. I have no idea what kind of yarn you used for the blankie, but she gets really mad at me when I try to switch her to something else. It even showed up in her hospital photo.
TH's sweater looks so lovely! I can understand why he'd be anxious to get it. That and it will like be cooler than Hades for only another couple of weeks. Think of it this way - finishing the sweater means more time to scour Ravelry for boy patterns without anyone asking when their sweater will be done. A small price for peace, neh?

    1. I'm so glad she likes the blankie and hope she likes the other stuff too while she can still fit in it! Good thing about knitting for kids is that you never run out of things to knit them because they keep growing out of stuff!

As for TH's sweater, there will be a winter next year... ; )

Looks like a lot of work has been done on the gray sweater. You'll get there.
